Mad Rat Dead is a rhythm action game developed by Nippon Ichi Software. You play as Mad Rat, a lab rat who has recently passed, revived by the benevolent Rat God. Resurrected to relive his final day, he decides his last wish is to kill the human who has kept him in a cage all of his life!

You control Mad Rat to the beat of the music. With each measure you can dash, jump, dive, and charge. Keep up with the beat and get Mad Rat to his goal!

I first discovered the game by chance in April of 2021 through a Discord bot. After looking at trailers, the gameplay appealed to me, since I found it to be similar to another game I already played and loved at the timeーthe indie game Crypt of the NecroDancer. I ended up trying the demo, and then once I finished with that, I saved up enough money to buy it on my own!

After that, it's become one of my most favourite games of all time. It ended up becoming a bit of a comfort media for a little bit, since it entered during a bad time of my life.

As of writing, I have about 40 hours clocked in the game on Nintendo Switch. I've also 100%-ed the game, with the platinum 'MAD RAT DEAD' trophy having been earned on August 4, 2021! (Sometimes I still play the final level on hard mode just for fun, too)
