Spade doesn't like backing down without a fight, and even then, he won't stop until he comes out on top. If he's challenged, he'll take it on no matter what the cost is. He might even cheat his way to victory, if possible.
He hates showing weakness, so he had built up a wall for himself, refusing to let anyone but his Deity into his mind.
Deep down, however, he does desire true companionship.
Story
Spade does not like to talk about his history—who he is, where he came from, or why he's here. But from small implications it can only be assumed that he had quite a terrible upbringing. Spade's desperate aim to please anyone may be the result of a rough time as a younger person, but unfortunately he took the wrong path in life. Spade follows Twiluna, and often claims that he can speak to her in his dreams. She gives him orders, he plays them out. What she makes him do doesn't really matter to him, just as long as his Deity is pleased.
